Learner Outcomes of Exchange City
The Exchange City curriculum meets numerous priorities of systemic school reform agendas and advances students’ knowledge, skill, attitudes, and achievement. The Exchange City program is an opportunity for educators, students, parents, and business leaders, to adapt and expand the Learning Exchange’s program to the priorities, needs, and opportunities within their community.
Participation in the Exchange City program seeks to achieve the following learner outcomes for young people, their parents, and school districts:
Students
-
first-hand experiences about economics and entrepreneurs that will shape their attitudes and knowledge now and in the future about the American free enterprise system and their roles, responsibilities, and options within it.
-
interdisciplinary hands-on learning and application of language arts, social studies, math, and technology skills in real-life settings.
-
first-hand experience of what it takes to create a business, produce a product, meet payroll, work to meet customer needs and expectations, repay bank loans, and serve the public through tax supported services.
-
increased achievement scores on standardized tests, tests of economic concepts, and state tests of basic skills.
Education Community
-
first-rate learning strategies and activities correlated and adaptable to state mandates, district objectives, community priorities, and needs.
