Our RegionŽ
Our RegionŽ is designed to provide practical information about natural, human and capital resources found in regions and used by businesses to produce goods and services. This program is designed to comply with the 4th grade curriculum.
The goals of Our RegionŽ
are to:

the students discover the importance of resources to the operation of a business.

the students' awareness of the production and the distribution of goods and services in
states and regions.

the students develop an awareness of the interdependence of business in a region and the
flow of money through a region.

the students solve basic business problems in a regional economy.

the elementary social studies curriculum with business and economics-related skills and
concepts.

Regional Resources

Activity Four:
Business Decisions

Our RegionŽ
is a series of five activities recommended for students in grade 4. The average time for each activity is 40 minutes. Materials are packaged in a self-contained kit that includes detailed activity plans for the volunteer and materials for 32 students.
All JA programs have technology enhancements and are designed to support the skills and competencies outlined in the SCANS (Secretary's Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills) report. These programs also augment the school-based, work-based, and connecting activities for communities with school-to-work initiatives.
